Stampin’ Up! Country Woods DSP adds western flair to baby card

A baby’s arrival brings such joy, and designing a baby card should be simple, right! Add some pink or blue and you’re done! Well, for a wee one arriving into a ranching family, where kids ride horses at the age of two, I needed some western flair. This paper, the Country Woods DSP from Stampin’ Up!, brought just the touch this baby card needed. I love how it fits well for either a baby boy or a baby girl.

I like to mix and match images and sentiments from different stamp sets. I encourage you to use the supplies you have on hand. Supplies & Instructions

  • Early Espresso Card Base: 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″; scored at 5 1/2″
  • Torn edge Layer 1: Cut darker coordinating DSP to 4″ x 5 1/4″; pull edge of paper toward you in small pulls to get torn edges; adhere it to card base.
  • Torn edge Layer 2: Cut coordinating DSP to 3 3/4″ x 5″; pull edge of paper toward you in small pulls to get torn edges; adhere to Layer 1.
  • Ribbon: use a complimentary ribbon, cut to fit your torn Layer 2 and adhere it to the layer.
  • Lasso: Coil loops of Stampin’ Up! Linen Thread and adhere to Layer 2 just above the ribbon strip.
  • Main image: Stamp the onesie from the Cutest Onesie stamp set onto coordinating Designer Series Paper. I used a plaid design in Early Espresso. Adhere image slightly over lasso with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Color the pocket and ribbing on the sleeves, neck and leg holes with a Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends marker. Die cut or fussy cut the image with scissors and adhere to Layer 2 with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Sentiment: Stamp it onto a scrap of Basic White Cardstock and using scissors fussy cut, or punch or die cut the shape you want. (I used a sentiment from the retired Cradled in Love stamp set, but use any sentiment you prefer.) Adhere sentiment where you would like it.
  • Rose image: I used the rose and leaves from the (retired) Stippled Rose stamp set, but use any image you choose. Color with Pecan Pie and Lost Lagoon Stampin’ Blends markers. Die cut or fussy cut with scissors the images and adhere with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Envelope: This card fits into an A2 envelope (Stampin’ Up! Medium Envelope). Decorate the flap with piece of DSP cut to 2 1/4″ x 6″. Adhere it with Multipurpose Glue; trim edges.

You can turn this layout into any type of card you choose, just by selecting different colors, stamp sets and DSP. I encourage you to check out your stash of products and have a great time creating!
